How it works

Five minutes from you. A book they keep for years.

There is no template underneath. The story is written after you tell us about your child, which is why it can be about the thing that actually matters this month.

  1. Tell us about them

Their name, their age, what they are like. Their sister, their grandad, the dog. It takes about five minutes and you can skip anything.

  2. Choose their adventure

Dinosaurs, space, magic, a first day at school. Then tell us anything that makes this book matter — a new baby, a house move, a fear of the dark.

  3. Watch their story come to life

We write the story, design the character, and illustrate every page in the style you picked. It takes a few minutes; you can close the tab and come back.

  4. Read it together

Open it on a phone or tablet and read it that night. Change any page you want to — the words, the pictures, the dedication.

  5. Keep it forever

Keep the digital book — yours forever, on any screen, with a print-quality PDF. Printed hardcovers on thick matte paper, with your dedication inside the front cover, are coming soon.

What’s inside every book

A cover with their name on it

Illustrated in the style you choose, with the title set in real type — not scrawled into the picture.

A dedication page

Your own words, printed inside the front cover. This is the page people keep.

18–24 illustrated spreads

A real story: a beginning, a problem that gets harder, and an ending that lands. Length follows their age.

One consistent character

Your child is defined once, before anything is drawn, and every page is drawn from that same description.

An “about this story” page

A note to your child about which real things from their life are woven into the book.

A print-quality PDF

The same document we send to the press, so what you read on screen is what arrives in the post.

From an example book

Noah’s First Day of School

For the child who has asked eleven times whether Mum will definitely come back.

Noah standing in a hallway wearing an enormous school bag, new shoes, morning light
The bag was nearly as big as Noah. Inside: a lunchbox, a jumper, and one small worry he hadn’t told anybody about. Squeak, squeak went his brand-new shoes, all the way down the hall.
Mum kneeling down to eye level with Noah at a school gate, both holding the bag strap
“What if you forget me?” said Noah. Mum knelt right down, so their eyes were the very same height. “Noah,” she said. “I have never once forgotten you. Not ever.” And Noah held on to that, tight as a bag strap.
Sadie and Noah, two different children, noticing each other’s matching dinosaur bags in a bright classroom doorway
Then a girl called Sadie stopped and stared. She looked at Noah’s bag. Noah looked at hers. Two dinosaurs. Exactly the same one. “Rrrooaaar,” said Sadie. “Rrrooaaar,” said Noah. And that was how the whole day started.
